Gay Geeks, Alan Moore, Harvey Pekar, and 89k Phone Calls
I haven't done a word count update in a long while. So, in two days I've managed nearly 7k. Go me!
The other day nearly 90,000 people reported calling their legislators about the Protect IP Act and SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). This is just the beginning. So, stay informed and keep spreading the word. Keep writing and calling. The internet generates far more money for the economy than Hollywood does, and this legislation could significantly alter what we've simply taken for granted-- freedom of speech and the freedom to search the web for just about anything.
Today is Alan Moore's birthday. Happy Birthday Mr. Moore and thank you for entertaining me over the years with so many amazing stories like Swamp Thing and The Extraordinary League of Gentleman. In particular, for making Wilhemina Murray a kick ass herione and making John Constatine bi-sexual. Also, thank you for standing up for freedom of speech. Your Lost Girls series should never be censored. So, what can I do for you today?
So, go to The Mary Sue and read more about this. And then go to kickstarter and read more about Harvey Pekar. And if you've never read American Splendor, do yourself a favor and get a copy. It's amazing.
In other news a new Australian show, Outland, ala Big Bang Theory will be debuting in 2012. It's going to be full of gay geeks. Read more it about at Geeks Are Sexy. I especially love what one of the character's says at the end of the trailer. "I'm gay and a geek, it's like I've come out of two closets." I really hope to find a way to watch this show when it hits the airwaves. So, for now here's a trailer (oh and be sure to watch for the dalek cosplay *lol*):
And now it's time to get back to work.
